Development of the commercial interior design brief
This second phase of a corporate office interior design project involves us in sharing with you our initial ideas based on commercial interior design solutions that are both feasible and affordable.
The commercial interior design brief development follows the information-gathering phase, where we conducted workplace consultancy.
What is involved in developing a commercial interior design brief?
We review the business requirements in light of the findings that emerge from the workplace consultancy and building appraisal and present you with a detailed report. This report provides the basis for us to agree a workable accommodation strategy and commercial interior design brief.
The commercial interior design brief will consider all the internal and external requirements including individual workspace needs, meeting areas, shared facilities, technology usage, storage requirements, car parking and use of outdoor space.
Our report will give an appropriate space allocation for each department. This will take account of departmental adjacencies, future departmental expansion/contraction, the distribution and allocation of cellular offices, and space requirements for filing/storage and
equipment.
In addition, the report will consider the brand and culture of the organisation and show how the visual identity and ambience can reinforce the business aims and values.
Commercial interior design solutions that are future proof
During our meetings with clients we try to find out how needs may change in the future. We build flexibility into all our commercial interior design solutions so that the available workspace can be adapted and reorganised when necessary.
By the end of this second phase we will have developed a commercial interior design brief that includes some of the following:
- business premises review - visit current or prospective properties, identify the opportunities and provide budget costs for relocation or refurbishment and where appropriate, structural alterations
- space planning review - determination of the key requirements of the project so that these can be incorporated into the scheme
- constraints - review and advise on any constraints regarding property style, restrictions and local planning guidelines.
The next phase involves office space planning.
